A few years ago, there was a very interesting documentary on electric cars called “who killed the electric car”. If you haven’t seen this already, then it’s definitely worth picking up. It basically goes through how the EV1 (the first electric car from General Motors) was prevented from ever appearing due to lack of consumer knowledge and pressure from major oil and car companies.
Right now, it looks like there is a very good chance gas prices will go up a lot in the next few years. Therefore, there has never been a better time to get an electric or hybrid vehicle and really cut back on your gas consumption. You can really save a lot of money.
You may want to know how to build an electric car yourself. It is in fact possible to convert a regular (gasoline fueled) car into an electric car. Of course, to do this, you’ll need to spend a decent amount of time and money. You can spend as little as a few hundred bucks to get all the parts you need, although many people will tell you that it will take thousands of dollars to successfully convert your car into an electric. It doesn’t have to if you know what you’re doing.
